YAP in Collaboration with Onitsuka Tiger and Wendy MacNaughton

We are in planning stages to have a fundraising event in San Francisco (1553 Haight Street) on August 13-14. We are displaying creative art by Wendy McNaughton with generous support of Onitsuka Tiger/Asics to raise funds and awareness for orphanages across the world. The art event will coincide with Outside Land Music Festival. I am asking everyone to join us and support our cause, purchase art, and Shoebiz and Onitsuka will match dollar for dollar with all the purchases that we make. In addition, Shoebiz and Onitsuka Tiger will match every dollar you donate to Youth Against Poverty. I have to emphasize, YAP does not collect money, we provide money to youth and orphans in need.

I will be at the event, so if you have any questions, comments, etc, please feel free to talk to me about it.

Conditions of an Orphan

When I visited a few orphanages, I learned how differently they lived from how we live and what restrictions they have rather than us.

The biggest problem about being an orphan is that they have no privacy. Since they have to live with 20-200 people, they have no one to confide with. They never had an adult love and care for them and do not know how it feels like. Orphans have no, as we call it, "alone time". They have to share rooms, T.V, toys, games, and sometimes beds. The only items they have are their clothes.

Another problem about being an orphan is that unlike us, they cannot spend their money on what they want. They do not have the luxury to go out and spend money on whatever they want, whether it is clothes, toys, or games. Orphanages are almost always in need of money, so that places many restrictions on the orphans.

Lastly, orphans do not have as great a chance to achieve their lifelong dream, meaning most of the time they are not what they wanted to be in the future. For example, if an orphan wanted to be a doctor, there would be a very slim chance that the orphan would be a doctor since they do not have parents to guide them and encourage them. They have an orphanage director who has to take care of many orphans ranging from 20-200.

Because of all these restrictions that orphans have and all the advantages that we have, it is our duty to help them and to ensure of them of better lives. If we do not help them, that is simply unfair because we were born fortunate and they were not. Orphans deserve an equal chance to achieve their lifelong dream.

Youth Against Poverty Supports Red Cross

YAP supports Red Cross, one of the most reliable charity organizations in the world. Red Cross offers neutral humanitarian aid to the victims of war and aids victims of natural disasters.

Please click here to donate and support Red Cross. There are many ways to help, but because of the many natural disasters that occurred recently, any way of help would be the best.

REMEMBER, IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO HELP THE ONES IN NEED!!!!!!!!

Are you willing to sacrifice?

Are you willing to sacrifice one coke a day?

Did you know that the cost of one coke can give a chid in Africa one full meal? In other words, if you sacrifice one coke in a day, you can give a child a full meal.

Did you know that the cost of a pack of gum can give a child a full day's supply of food?

If you sacrifice two cans of coke and one pack of gum every day and donate, you can give two kids a full day's meal. Now that is a good deal.

HELP THE ONES IN NEED

Recently, there have been a few natural disasters, such as the earthquakes Chile and Haiti that have occured. Although the earthquake in Haiti happened a few months ago and the earthquake in Chile happened over a week ago, it is still never too late to help the victims, especially the orphans. The orphans are the most vulnerable and they are the ones that need help the most. The most reliable organization to donate to help the victims in Chile and Haiti is unicef.org.

REMEMBER, IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO HELP THE ONES IN NEED

HELP THE VICTIMS IN HAITI!!!

Ever since the 7.0 magnitude in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on January 12, tens of thousands of children have been orphaned. One 13 year old child, Jean Peterson Estime, was outside playing soccer when his house pancaked and his parents and five sisters all died. Now he is on the streets, rummaging for food in rubble and really wants someone to take him in. Everyday, more and more orphans come desperately needing help such as food, water, and shelter. In one orphanage, the director of an infant orphanage died, leaving the infants on the back of a truck, completely helpless.

Please watch this video about the orphans in Haiti.

Please click here to donate to the victims in Haiti. The most reliable organizations to donate are UNICEF and CARE.

Remeber, never hesitate to help the orphans in need, because they need us the most.
