YAP facilitates DoSomething.org event

Youth Against Poverty is gearing up for a whole month of helping pets get adopted! Our organization will be taking part in DoSomething.org's Pics for Pets Campaign. This project will be utilizing social media in an effort to help share animals in our local shelters. This added exposure will help to spread the word about these animals looking for a new home. These photos of animals are often accompanied by a short description of the pet's personality and the shelter where they are currently being housed. For every 400 shares, DoSomething.org will donate much-needed supplies to the participating shelters. We are looking forward to participating and encourage all of our supporters to check out this great campaign: http://pics.dosomething.org/

Be sure to keep up with YAP's efforts via social media:

JUNE 9-24: "Pop-Up" Charity for Haiti

Anyone in need of a great pair of shoes?  How about an *awesome* pair of shoes for charity?

Youth Against Poverty is opening a “Pop-Up” store – a short-term clearance sale – starting THIS SATURDAY in Los Altos.  We’re selling hundreds of new, top-quality shoes to fund a children’s medical clinic in Les Cayes, Haiti.

Although one of our closest neighbors, Haiti has one of the worst health care systems in the world and millions of the country’s citizens are suffering from cholera, malaria and Dengue Fever.  The children’s clinic in Les Cayes will serve a community of over a million people and will contribute significantly to the prevention and treatment of illnesses for the youth of the region.

Do you think you can help?  If so, please join me.  Our last Pop-Up raised over $25,000, and with the support of the Silicon Valley community, we’re hoping to raise even more towards our goal of $70,000.

If you can’t make it, please spread the word.  It is rare to find great deals on great shoes, and even more rare to be able to shop for charity.

We hope to see you there!

YAP in Collaboration with Onitsuka Tiger and Wendy MacNaughton

We are in planning stages to have a fundraising event in San Francisco (1553 Haight Street) on August 13-14. We are displaying creative art by Wendy McNaughton with generous support of Onitsuka Tiger/Asics to raise funds and awareness for orphanages across the world. The art event will coincide with Outside Land Music Festival. I am asking everyone to join us and support our cause, purchase art, and Shoebiz and Onitsuka will match dollar for dollar with all the purchases that we make. In addition, Shoebiz and Onitsuka Tiger will match every dollar you donate to Youth Against Poverty. I have to emphasize, YAP does not collect money, we provide money to youth and orphans in need.

I will be at the event, so if you have any questions, comments, etc, please feel free to talk to me about it.
